Home Again Foundation, Inc, as part of the World Homeless Day focus on the dire need for affordable and sustainable housing throughout the world, announces the Promise of Tomorrow Capital Campaign to raise funding for the initial 8 Cottages that will provide housing and supportive services for 17-20 homeless currently on the streets of Charlotte.
The standalone 3 bedroom cottage located in Mint Hill and the 8 1-2-3 bedroom Cottages located in the Cochrane Road Community will be ready for occupancy starting in November and December. The campaign objective is to raise $1 Million for this phase by December 31st.
The next phase beginning January 2021, will include a 300-cottage community built on 30+ acres. This cottage community will include amenities like Chapel, Community & Training Centers and Child Care facility. While ambitious, these 300 Cottages will provide affordable and sustainable housing for over 560 Residents. In addition, Home Again will focus on those often neglected 2,400 homeless that fall under 30% of AMI (Average Median Income).
Home Again believes that each resident deserves to have a safe place to call home, dignity of a new beginning and the hope for tomorrow. The housing is only half of the need. Without providing the support services, the Residents will not develop the life services like budgeting, wealth accumulation, education, health improvements whether mental or physical and self-sufficiency to break through their barriers for a better tomorrow.
The Housing and Services Program will provide Service Representatives and use Self- Sufficiency Matrix to evaluate needs of the Residents to ensure that each individual has the means to achieve success.
Each cottage regardless of size will include a washer and dryer (one of the most requested features from those that are homeless!) and a front porch to encourage community activities. The cottages will be “green/best practice” construction to include use of recycled automobile steel, mold/insect retardant materials, internal air conditioning/heating units to eliminate noise and wasteful energy spikes, tankless water heaters and unique led lighting that will reduce energy consumption by 30-40% and be easily maintained.
Home Again Foundation, Inc is a North Carolina chartered and IRS approved 501 C(3) non-profit public charity. Donations to Promise of Tomorrow will be applied 100% to the Residents housing and servicing needs. You are encouraged to donate monthly by sending
